Plan your format

Volley World App is the most sophisticated tournament management system on the market. It runs everything from a Sunday amateur beach event to an official PRO competition, and it lets you customize the whole thing from start to finish — while adapting to the volleyball regulations of your country.

Before you create anything, the one decision that shapes the rest is: what format should your tournament have? These are the choices to make — every one of them is fully supported.

  • Sign-up method. One person registers and pays for the whole team (the default), or you also enable split payments so each player pays their own half — incomplete splits are refunded automatically, at no cost to the club.
  • One-day event or a whole league. Run a single tournament end to end, or link a series of them to a ranking so results carry across events into one season-long ladder, published on a public link.
  • Single stage or multi-stage. A straight knockout or one round robin, or chained phases — a group stage that seeds the elimination through Round 1, Round 2 and the finals.
  • Who referees. Players referee each other (auto-balanced, or the team that just played referees next), a professional officials pool (R1, R2, scorer, line judges), or a mix — players in the early phases and sub-divisions, professionals for the finals.
  • Substitute players. Allow larger rosters with substitutes, or keep every team to a fixed size.
  • Ranking points. Mark it as a sanctioned FIVB / federation ranking event whose results count toward official points, or keep it friendly and internal.
  • Rulebook. Attach a federation standard (e.g. RFEVB PRO or Amateur) so the event follows your country’s regulations, or build a custom rulebook of your own in the seven-step wizard — reusable across future tournaments.
  • Formats. Round robin, single elimination, double elimination, or groups-then-knockout — and you can split the field into sub-divisions (Gold, Silver, Bronze), each with its own format.
  • Custom form. Attach a sign-up form to collect sizes, categories, documents or anything else from every team, then read the answers or export them to Excel.

Not sure which combination fits your event — or want to check a specific requirement is possible? The interactive tournament planner walks you through these same questions, confirms how each option works, and lets you send your answers to our sales team so we can help you set it up.

No account needed — reaching sales just takes your name, email and phone number.

Once you know your format, create the event and follow the golden path end to end:
