Create a tournament
What you’ll achieve: a tournament event that appears in Competition Manager, ready to build a rulebook and open sign-ups.
Prerequisites: a club with online payments set up, and access to Club Manager (the event form lives there).

Sunrise on the beach. Sixteen courts, sixty-four teams… and one big question: who plays where, and when? Let's run a whole tournament, from sunrise to sunset.
It starts in the Competition Manager. Open Tournaments and click Create tournament. You build it in the Club Manager: a cover and a name, when and where, who can join, and the price per team. Publish!
Under Who can join, you pick the rulebook. PRO rulebooks follow the official federation rules, like FIVB or RFEVB: rest times are enforced, and every match goes on the digital scoresheet, signed.
Amateur rulebooks are Volley World's own take: same scoring, no strict schedule, results saved directly. Perfect for a Sunday beach cup.
Morning. Share your link, and teams sign up in the Volley World app. One player registers the pair and adds the partner by email… or, if you allow it, they split the price: each pays their half. Card, Apple Pay or Google Pay, straight to your club.
Every team lands in your list: confirmed, or waitlisted once you're full. Ready? Switch Registrations off, and inscriptions are closed.
Midday: game time. Generate the groups, seeded by level, in serpentine order. Draw your courts, pick best of three, and create the matches, each with a court, a time and a referee. Publish phase one, and every player knows where to be.
Players and referees keep score on their phones, point by point: live on your dashboard, and for every fan with the spectator link.
Afternoon: the brackets. Gold, silver and bronze, single or double elimination. The strongest teams start apart… and meet in the final.
Sunset. Every match finished? Check the final ranking and close the tournament: the results are saved, and every player's level is updated.
First time? Rehearse it! In a practice tournament, add dummy teams, fill the matches with test results, and play through the whole day. Dummy teams never earn points or levels.
Indoor? Same steps, in the hall: six against six, best of five, with indoor rulebooks.
And the cost? Start free: two tournaments, up to sixteen teams. Community, twenty-nine ninety-nine a month: one tournament every month. Club PRO, fifty-nine ninety-nine: unlimited tournaments, plus QR check-in.
On every entry fee, just one small fee per payment, from two percent plus twenty-five cents.
Sunrise to sunset: your whole tournament, in one app. That easy!
- Open the Schedule screen. Your tournaments are split across the Upcoming and Past tabs.
- Click Add Event.
- In the Open Club Manager dialog, click Continue. A new tab opens Club Manager, already signed in, on the event-creation form.
- Create the event there as a tournament. Under Competition Rulebook, select the regulation standard the tournament will follow — this is the moment a rulebook gets attached to the event.
- Return to Competition Manager — the tournament now appears under Upcoming.
Choosing the rulebook
Section titled “Choosing the rulebook”The event form lists every rulebook available to your club:
- PRO rulebooks (RFEVB PRO, CEV PRO, FIVB PRO, DVV PRO) follow the official federation regulations, including scheduling enforcement — minimum rest, max matches per day.
- VW Amateur rulebooks are Volley World App’s adaptations for amateur play: same scoring shape, no scheduling enforcement. They are not officially endorsed by the federations.
- Custom rulebooks you’ve built yourself appear under Your Custom Rulebooks.
You cannot create or edit a rulebook from this form — it only selects one. Rulebooks are authored in the Rulebook Manager (the Rulebooks tab of Competition Manager). Build it there first, then it shows up here.
To change the rulebook after the event exists, edit the event in Club Manager and pick a different one.
Copy a tournament for the same day
Section titled “Copy a tournament for the same day”Running several tournaments at the same venue on the same day? Set one up completely, then clone it instead of rebuilding each one.
- Open the finished tournament’s event in Club Manager (edit it).
- Click Copy as new (the copy icon, top-right of the edit screen — it only appears on an existing tournament).
- A fresh editor opens with everything cloned and a banner: “You are creating a NEW tournament from a copy.” The original is not modified.
- Change the name, date or any settings, then publish it as its own tournament.
Troubleshooting

The auto-login to Club Manager didn’t complete. Click Add Event again, or open Club Manager directly and create the tournament event there.
