Volley World App Level
Your Volley World App Level is the global skill number Volley World keeps for you. It’s what balances games, what level-restricted events check, and what other players see on your card.
It is not your club’s level. Your club can run its own ladder and your coaches assign you a rung on it — that’s the Club Level System, and the two never affect each other.
One level per sport
Section titled “One level per sport”You don’t have “a level” — you have a level for each sport you play. Beach volleyball, indoor, grass, foot volley and beach tennis are all tracked separately.
Win a beach volleyball match and only your beach level moves; your indoor level is untouched. To get a level in a new sport, run the level questionnaire again for that sport.
The scale
Section titled “The scale”Levels run from 1 to 10, with one decimal.
The questionnaire can only place you between 1 and 6 — the upper half of the scale is earned on court, not claimed in a form. From there, results move you.
What changes your level
Section titled “What changes your level”Only results change your level. Two things produce them.
Competitive matches (friendly matches)
Section titled “Competitive matches (friendly matches)”A friendly match whose result you save in the app counts, as long as it was a real match — a side has to reach at least 14 points and win by at least 2.
- A win adds a small step to your level.
- A loss only costs you something if you’re already above level 5. Below that, losing a friendly match never pushes you down — you can play freely while you find your level.
The score margin doesn’t matter, and neither does your opponent’s level: a win is a win.
Results don’t appear by themselves — the organizer has to register them. If you organize Friendly Matches or Trainings, see Register match results.
Competitions organized in the app
Section titled “Competitions organized in the app”This is where your level really moves. When an organizer closes a tournament, every match you played in it is scored — so a single tournament can move your level further than a long run of friendlies.
How much a win is worth depends on how strongly your opponent was seeded and which stage you beat them in:
- Beating a top-seeded team is worth roughly three times as much as beating a bottom-seeded one.
- A win in the Gold bracket counts three times as much as a win in Bronze, with Silver in between.
At the extreme, one win against a top seed in the Gold bracket is worth about nine friendly wins — and you accumulate that across every match of the tournament.
As with friendlies, a tournament loss only costs you level if you’re above 5 — and when it does, it’s a flat small step, regardless of who beat you.
Verified boosts
Section titled “Verified boosts”Some organizers and club staff can verify a player they know is stronger than their number says, which lifts that player’s level by 1 point in that sport. It can only be given once per organizer, per player, per sport, nobody can boost themselves, and it can’t take anyone past level 6.
What no longer applies
Section titled “What no longer applies”- There is no reliability score. Older versions of Volley World adjusted your level by a confidence percentage. That’s gone — nothing in the app computes or uses reliability any more.
- No-shows and attendance never touch your level. Cancelling late is a matter between you and your organizer; it has no effect on your skill number.
