Create matches
What you’ll achieve: a full match schedule for the group phase, with referees assigned and matches placed on the courts.
Before you create matches
Section titled “Before you create matches”Creating matches builds the schedule for the first part of the tournament — the group phase. Three things have to be in place first, or the schedule won’t come out right:
- Groups are created. Draw your groups so every team belongs to one.
- Registrations are closed. Turn the Registrations toggle off so no new team can join — the team list has to be final before matches are built on top of it.
- The court map is drawn. Lay out the courts in Net Layout, with one court per group.
For the officials-pool referee mode, register your referees first too.
Set the phase up and create
Section titled “Set the phase up and create”- Open the Matches tab (Create Matches).
- Set the Start time: — when this phase begins — and the Match Length (minutes) (5–240).
- Pick the Match format: — 1 Set, Best of 3 or Best of 5.
- Under Referee Assignment, choose a mode:
- Team-based — Auto-balanced (default) — spreads match and referee duty evenly, so no team plays or referees twice in a row where avoidable. Any group size.
- Team-based — Team that played last match referees — the team that just finished referees the next match. Best for groups of 4 or 5; other sizes fall back to auto-balanced.
- Officials pool — auto-assigns your registered officials (R1, R2, scorer, line judges).
- Manual — no auto-assignment.
- Click Create Matches.
Assign the matches to courts
Section titled “Assign the matches to courts”Once the matches exist, they need to go onto the courts. You can let the app do it or place them yourself:
- Auto-assign — the app distributes the matches across the courts for you (one court per group), filling the timetable from your start time.
- Manual — place each group’s matches on the courts by hand if you want a specific layout.
The schedule then appears grouped by court/group, with each match’s time, both teams and the assigned referee. From here you can download it or clear it and start over.
Export the schedule and results at any time
Section titled “Export the schedule and results at any time”The export button (the download icon above the schedule) works at every moment of the tournament — before it starts, mid-play, or after it’s finished. It downloads the current schedule and results as they stand, so you can print the order of play, hand referees their sheets, or share standings partway through. There’s no need to wait until the tournament is over.
Troubleshooting
Section titled “Troubleshooting””No officials registered”
The Officials pool mode needs registered officials. Add officials first, or choose a team-based mode.
A warning about teams or group sizes
Before creating, the app flags confirmed teams without a group, and unequal group sizes. Review the warning and continue, or fix the setup first.
There aren’t enough courts
Matches assign one court per group, so your court map needs at least as many courts as you have groups. Add the missing courts in Net Layout, then assign again.
