Teams & sign-up

What you’ll achieve: the league’s teams registered and confirmed, with entry points that decide the entry ranking — the seeding of the fixtures.

Prerequisites: at least one club has accepted the invitation (Invite clubs) — or you test with dummy teams. For self sign-up: registration open, and a sign-up form attached.

A team is registered by its captain or by club staff. As the organizer you can also register one on behalf of an associated club, and set the entry points that decide the entry ranking.

Section titled “Way 1 · Sign-up form and the clubs’ links”

Teams sign themselves up through the league’s sign-up form.

  1. In Settings, use Attach a signup form to attach a competition form. Forms are authored in the Club Manager; a league only attaches one. Optionally switch on Paid sign-up and set the amount per team.
  2. Under Sign-up access, choose who may use it:
    • Open sign-up — Any player may enter a team for one of the associated clubs.
    • By club link — Each associated club gets its own secret sign-up link; teams can only be entered through it.
  3. Switch the league to Registration open in the league header.
  4. On Clubs, open a club’s Sign-up link (Sign-up link for …) and Copy link — or use All sign-up links → Copy all to copy every club’s link at once. Send each link to that club, not to a public channel.

Each associated club has its own sign-up link.
  1. Click Teams in the rail.
  2. Click Add team on behalf and choose the club (only clubs that accepted the invitation are listed).
  3. Name the team (optional — extra teams of a club are suffixed A, B, C …) and add the players: type a name to search the club’s members, or an e-mail address to find a Volley World account or invite someone new.
  4. Click Register team.

Teams you add by hand are free, even in a league with a sign-up price.

Want to rehearse the season before the real clubs are in? On Teams, the group-add icon next to the add button (tooltip Add dummy teams (test data)) opens Add dummy teams: pick how many.

The Teams table shows each team’s TEAM NR (its registration number — it never changes, and appears as T8 on every match card), its ENTRY RANKING and its ENTRY POINTS. Entry points decide the entry ranking, highest first, and the entry ranking seeds the draw: in round 1, #1 meets the last entry.

Edit the entry points in the table, then save them with the save button in the header.

Next: generate the fixtures.

Troubleshooting
  • “Registration for this league is closed.” Switch it to Registration open in the league header and try again.
  • “No club has accepted the invitation yet, so no team can be registered.” Wait for a club to accept, or test with dummy teams.
  • There are no sign-up links to hand out. Sign-up links open the league’s sign-up form, and none is attached yet. Attach one in Settings.
  • “This sign-up link is no longer valid.” The club’s link was replaced with New link. Send the club the current one.
  • A player is already on another team. A player may hold one place per league.
