Close the season

Who does thisFederation staff

What you’ll achieve: a closed league — final standings published, the league read-only, and (if you choose) every player told their result by e-mail.

Prerequisites: every regular-season match is finished or cancelled.

  1. Click Close in the rail. Close the season writes the final standings snapshot, locks the league and — if you ask for it — e-mails every player their result.
  2. Review — what the snapshot is built from. Regular-season matches neither finished nor cancelled block the close; record their result or cancel the ones that were never played. Play-off matches never block the close — only the regular season does.
  3. Final order — prefilled from the play-off result, or from the league table. Drag to change it; untouched, the server ranks with the same table and tiebreaks it has used all season.
  4. E-mails — Send the result e-mails: one mail per player, with their team’s final position and season record. Off by default. Mail cannot be recalled once the close has run, and closing without mail is perfectly normal — the standings are public anyway.
  5. Confirm — This is the last step. A closed league cannot be reopened from here. Click Close the league.

Four steps: Review, Final order, E-mails, Confirm.

This league is closed. The final standings are published and the league is read-only: settings, fixtures, playing days and results are locked. The standings screen and the public page keep working. Every match a referee worked in the closed league now counts on their own refereeing record.

Troubleshooting
  • “The server refuses to close a league with open matches.” Record the missing results, or cancel the matches that were never played.
  • “The table is empty.” Recompute it on the Standings screen before closing.
  • I need to change a result after closing. A closed league can’t be reopened from the Competition Manager. Write to hola@volleyworldapp.com.
